My wedding shawl. Yards of "print o' the wave" lace knitting in ivory alpaca.
I wore it at my wedding, and at a family wedding. And now I've delicately pinned it out for a friend, who is considering wearing it for her own wedding (something borrowed).
Pinning it out -- hundreds of little points in a row -- is a meditative act. I don't have reason to do it often, maybe just once a year. But whenever I do, it makes me happy.
Simple beauty.

Truly lovely. Thank you for sharing!
I was wondering if you have a pattern for the wedding shawl?
Very lovely! I agree that the pinning process is very meditative. I just had lunch the other day with my niece for whom I will be knitting her wedding shawl. Still in the 'design' phase at this point.
Beautiful!
gorgeous!
What a thoughtful and beautiful piece.
I hope dreams are made that day and the glow of the special couple's day lasts a life time :)
Stunning!
Beautiful!!!
gorgeous!! what an amazing tradition, it's truly an heirloom.
Thanks for the kind words!
And Christine -- I just cast on 7 repeats of "Print o'the Wave" lace (it's in one of the Barbara Walker stitch dictionaries; alternatively you could find it in Eunny's stole of the same name). I knit until I couldn't stand it anymore!
Wow--it's a beautiful knit. And your friend is so lucky that you are willing to share it with her!
